WHO MAY APPLY
Applicants to the Senior Research Fellowship Program must have a distinguished record of research and innovation in empirical research on Social Media / Online Communities. They must currently hold a
position in a University or Research Center. They must be fluent in English (spoken and written). Knowledge of Catalan or Spanish languages is not necessary but it is a valued skill.

Appointments can be for periods between a minimum of three months and maximum of one year. Reappointments are excluded. Successful applicants will receive notice of their appointment by January 1st 2010.

REQUIREMENTS
Applicants should supply their complete CV, 3 letters of recommendation from experts in the field Social Media / Online Communities, and a brief research project (maximum of 5 pages) describing their intended activity in Barcelona. If selected they should be ready to be in full time residence at the Internet Interdisciplinary Institute in Barcelona and participate in the seminars and research meetings at the Institute, while pursuing their own research project. A letter of intention motivating the application should be included in the file.

FUNDING
Upon appointment as Research Fellow at IN3, The Open University of Catalonia will provide a compensation equivalent of 2/3 of the current gross salary received by the applicant in her/his home
institution, for the duration of her/his appointment. Therefore, applicants should indicate the amount of their salary when submitting the application. The Open University of Catalonia will cover the cost
of one round trip between the current location of the appointed Fellow and Barcelona (economy class). The Open University of Catalonia will provide assistance in finding housing for appointed Fellows, although
no housing allowance is available.
